2 reasons why you should optimize your prompts
In the world of AI, 99,9% of people want MORE - not BETTER - stuff.
But I promise you…
1 improved, useful ChatGPT prompt > 69 basic ChatGPT prompts
It might feel less exciting to work on improving existing prompts instead of trying out new ones…
…but that’s exactly why you should do it.
The 2 BIG benefits you get from optimising ChatGPT prompts:
1) Better output. Your output will need less tweaking and be of higher quality.
2) Less token usage. Shorter prompts use less tokens, meaning you produce better output, cheaper.
Also, short prompts look sleeker 😎
Here’s how to optimise your prompts:

Prompt: How to use the Prompt Creator to optimise ChatGPT prompts
This ChatGPT prompt by community member Warezit optimizes your existing prompts.
Step 1: Insert your goal with the prompt you want to create in this template:
I want you to become my Prompt Creator. Your goal is to help me craft the best possible prompt for my needs.
The ultimate goal of this prompt is to: [EXPLAIN WHAT THE PERFECT PROMPT WOULD DO]
The prompt will be used by you, ChatGPT. You will follow the following process:
1. Your first response will be to ask me what the prompt should be about. I will provide my answer, but we will need to improve it through continual iterations by going through the next steps.
2. Based on my input, you will generate 3 sections.
a) Revised prompt (provide your rewritten prompt. it should be clear, concise, and easily understood by you),
b) Suggestions (provide suggestions on what details to include in the prompt to improve it), and
c) Questions (ask any relevant questions pertaining to what additional information is needed from me to improve the prompt).
3. We will continue this iterative process with me providing additional information to you and you updating the prompt in the Revised prompt section until it's complete.
Step 2: After the Prompt Optimizer replies, enter the prompt you want to improve to get advice
I asked the Prompt Optimizer to improve the Arnold Automator prompt from a previous letter, and here’s what it told me:

PROMPT OVERVIEW: PROMPT CREATOR
The prompt creator optimizes your prompt for your target outcome.
It gives you:
A revised prompt
Suggestions to improve your output
Questions to answer for better results

3 methods to get the most out of the Prompt Optimiser
1) Establish clear objectives for the prompt
If you’ve ever had a terrible boss that told you to do a “better” job, but couldn’t give you any specific instructions on how to be better, you know how it feels:
If you don’t know what you’re optimizing for…
…you can’t optimise anything.
Neither can ChatGPT.
Clearly define what you want to achieve with your prompt.
2) Add previous fails
Add your original prompt’s shortcomings to improve the Prompt Creator’s output.
For example, if your marketing copy prompt produces too generic content, say:
“Previously, this prompt has produced output that’s been too generic.”
3) Don’t stop after 1 iteration
Just like the beauty of pesto lies in its ability to enhance almost every pasta meal…
…the beauty of the Prompt Optimiser lies in its ability to evolve and refine the prompt over multiple iterations.
If you only run it once, you’re only scraping its potential.
Run your prompt through the Prompt Creator as often as it needs to produce great results.
